It’s in the gesture

Asian Child striking a Buddha gesture

I thought this was so cute and poignant that this tiny Asian girl was striking poses like a goddess statue, while dressed in the oh-so-fashionable-pink sunglasses. Another example of where modernity mingles with tradition, something that I find very fascinating in many cultures that I experience. She stood under a covered pavilion, yielding wonderful light for her, and fortunately, a cloud passed over the sun at the moment we were photographing her so the background stayed illuminated by soft light, too! The background was the Grand Palace in Bangkok, an over-the-top-ornately adorned architectural masterpiece. To keep it manageable, I kept it out of focus – or it would have taken over visually.

She was a little actress, posing in all sorts of ways for the 8 cameras trained on her. She ‘ate it up’ and her parents did too…

Thanks, John – she was a definite ‘performer’ for our cameras – but so incredible graceful with her ‘moves’ it was amazing…

  3. She’s definitely a cutie! Nice that you got the soft light at the right time too – turned out beautifully.
