Paddle a kayak amidst crystalline blue icebergs. Walk in a rainforest, and cruise along steeply walled fiords to photograph astounding scenery. Train your eye and camera on a humpback whale breaching off the bow of the boat. Watch in awe as coastal grizzlies and black bears feast on the salmon in the streams. All this awaits you on this journey aboard our comfortable boat, M/V Delhpinus. If you want to truly experience Southeast Alaska, you need to do it in a boat that allows for close-up encounters, not a cruise ship. This will be my 8th trip, and it is a favorite destination for me. Words cannot describe some of the amazing scenes and moments I have witnessed in southeast Alaska. We'll have full days on this journey, guided by our experienced and extremely knowledgeable naturalist Captn. Ronn Patterson. We'll live aboard the cozy and comfortable Delphinus, and we'll make shore excursions regularly to photograph on land. Kayaks are available for early morning discovery of the quiet coves and harbors in which we anchor. Our journey will begin with a separate boat trip up the Stikine River to the Shakes Lake and Glacier. Once aboard theh Delphinus, we'll begin our journey into the heart of Southeast Alaska, to places that often only small boats can go. We'll explore parts of Frederick Sound, motor up into the ice kingdom of tidewater glaciers and icebergs, photograph the rainforest plants and mosses, and capture the action at sea lion colonies and two bear reserves. I will lead discussions and conduct presentations on photography, including creative vision and techniques, digital workflow, computer editing (basics), and provide critiques of current digital work or past work of each participant. I hope you will join me for this memorable experience in one of the most pristine places I have ever visited.

Extension in Juneau: For those wishing to spend a few days more in Alaska, I am offering an extension of 2 nights with plans for exploring the Alpine area above the city (accessible via tram) and a trip to the Mendenhall Glacier area. Details/price are forthcoming.
