| Brenda Tharp specializes in location, nature and travel photography. She has llama-trekked, sea-kayaked, flown in helicopters and hot-air balloons, cycled, and hiked to get her photographs. Those images have appeared on the pages of Adventure West, Alaska Airlines, Audubon, Discovery, Forbes, Navigator, Sierra, Sunset and Travel Holiday magazines, along with many others. Her images have also been published in books by Chronicle, Michelin, National Geographic, Sierra Club, and others.
She photographed the award-winning books Muir Woods: Redwood Refuge, and Marin Headlands: Portals of Time, (GGNPA). She wrote and photographed the book Creative Nature and Outdoor Photography (Amphoto 2003). Her commercial clients include those in the educational and travel markets, along with book publishers, corporations, design and advertising agencies. (Please see CLIENTS) Her colorful and graphic photographs are regularly published in calendars and greetings cards for a variety of international companies. Brenda markets her own stock photographs, and is also represented by Workbookstock.com and Photo Researchers, Inc. Brenda has been featured in Rangefinder Magazine, Studio Photography and Design, and CANON's Insight magazine. Her keen eye for design, and use of natural light and color are a signature in her work. She co-starred in two episodes of CANON's Photo Safari television program. An accomplished writer as well as photographer, Brenda has written how-to articles for Outdoor and Nature Photography, Outdoor Photographer, the on-line magazine ApogeePhoto.com and Photomigrations.com. Brenda conducts lectures on photography throughout the United States and has presented inspirational programs for a variety of audiences, including The Mountaineers Club, American Society of Media Photographers, St. Louis Camera Club, Northwest Council of Camera Clubs, Century Club, and the Photo Plus Expo West, and Digitial Days Seminars. Highly regarded as an instructor, she conducts workshops through variousprograms including Maine and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, Rocky Mountain School of Photography, and Point Reyes Field Seminars. She leads international photography tours through Strabo Tours. She resides in Marin County, California. |
