To create archival prints of these images, I am utilizing the latest processes in fine art digital printing. The transparencies are first scanned on a high resolution drum scanner. Then, traditional darkroom techniques, such as color and contrast control, dodging and burning are performed in the digital darkroom of the computer but with far greater control and precision than is possible in a "wet" darkroom. As a result, prints can be created with greater detail resolution and color accuracy than was previously possible.
In each case, my objective is to create the highest quality print while remaining faithful to the image as I saw it through the viewfinder.
This master 'digital' image is then exposed onto traditional photographic paper using laser technology, and run through standard photographic processing chemistry. The result is a true continuous tone photographic print that has an archival rating of over 70 years.
