Wine Country in Autumn

Imagine rolling hills of glowing vines in the backlight of a morning sun, or stone wineries covered with ivy. Who said California doesn't have an Autumn season?! At this time of year, the vines are changing to various hues of gold, orange, red and yellow. The hillsides of vines create wonderful patterns in the landscape, the lines leading you into a very painterly landscape - a landscape that has in fact been painted by many an artist. Add to that the details of vintage equipment and other wine-oriented accessories, gardens, and wine cellars and you have a great many things to photograph, in your own creative way. Combine the photography with gourmet cuisine and some tastings, and you have an itinerary that is sure to please many of your senses. Join us for this multi-day instructional tour and come away with incredible images of California's wine country during a special time of the year. More details below.

What we'll do

• Explore the rolling hills of vines in morning and late afternoon light

• Stop in at wineries to photograph details and wine cellars

• Have some al fresco lunches at wineries (weather permitting)

• Work together in making outstanding photographs
• Take al hot air balloon ride (optional) over Napa for some stunning aerial perspectives.

Workshop Details

Price above is tuition only. A deposit of $300 holds your space. We will be concentrating our photography in two areas, around Healdsburg, in the Sonoma wine country, and in the Napa Valley. We have reserved a block of rooms at comfortable and reasonably priced hotels in both areas to provide easy access to the wineries/vineyards in each location. We'll begin our program with dinner (no-host) the evening the November 6th, and finish up at noon on Sunday, November 10th. More details will be delivered upon registration.
