Bears of Alaska Photo Workshop
Late July-Early August, 2019
Final dates/prices to be announced, but this will fill quickly!**
Plan ahead! Join me for an amazing photo workshop amongst the grizzly bears of Lake Clark, Alaska. This workshop provides an experience like nowhere else in geting close with these wild bears. Observe and photograph their daily activities – from Momma bear nursing her cubs, cubs playing in the grasses, running after salmon in the streams – the activity never stops, even when we have to because it’s gotten dark. And then, we have the potential for northern lights!
Past photo workshops have all been unique, incredible experiences. We’ve had bears so close you could hear them chewing, and we were not afraid! I have been in a lot of wilderness areas photographing wildlife, and have never been this close. The bears have coexisted alongside people in this park for so long, and each generation is imprinted with no concern for what we as humans are doing. As a result, we can get very close, while still be safe and aware. It’s all based on common sense for general safety and the keen perception of the naturalist guide, who is with us at all times.
We’ll either be there July 27-August 1, or August 1-3, depending on some sorting out of the lodge’s schedule, and we should know soon. If we can only get 3 days at the lodge in early August, I’m adding on a trip to take a cruise in the Kenai Fjords National Park, for more wildlife viewing and photography. Details to come soon, please check back.
If you know you can make it no matter what the exact dates end up being, reserve your spot now by Emailing me to get on the list. I will then contact you once I have final information.
Single occupancy may be available but we won’t know until it gets closer to the departure date. If it is available, the supplement will be approx. $600.
Round trip airfare from Anchorage to the lodge, _ nights lodging, and all meals, services of a bear guide, ground transportation (ATV’s pulling trailer carts) while at the lodge, boat charter to the island rookery, all services tips to the guide and lodge staff, and the instruction and helpful guidance of a pro nature photographer (me). I’m there to help you make your best pictures of these bears!
Not included: transportation to Anchorage, Alaska; food/lodging on the night before (August 13) our flight to the lodge (August 14) , and the evening we return to Anchorage (August 19). I recommend staying over that night because weather can cause delays leaving the lodge, and you won’t want to miss your flights. If you decide you want to take the risk of leaving same day, please book your flight as late in that day as possible. We typically leave the lodge around 10 AM and return to Anchorage by noon.
Deposit: $___ coming soon!
